About Dorinda
At the age
of 5, Dorinda's childhood began consisting of singing and stage
performances in her school and surrounding communities. Upon
high school graduation there was no question that she would earn
a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. Soon after college, Dorinda
was awarded an acting scholarship to attend Studio Arena School
of Theater in Buffalo, NY. While in Buffalo, she began singing
radio jingles and voiceovers. This provided another opportunity
eventually resulting in her relocation to New York City, where
she appeared at the Village Gate, on Manhattan television, and
in various cabaret clubs and lounges. Dorinda was the opening
act for comedians at The Improv, and worked as a demo singer for
the Songwriter’s Guild composers.
While performing in New York, an
unexpected singing opportunity arose in Nashville. She appeared on
The Nashville Network's national talent contest where 6,000
singers competed. Dorinda placed second which resulted in
appearances on the Grand Old Opry stage as a solo featured artist.
She became a sought after back-up singer and demo vocalist in the
Nashville area. Dorinda also appeared on the Grand Ole Opry stage
both as a back-up vocalist and as a featured soloist on the Grand
Ole Gospel Hour which led to an interest in songwriting. Because
of her many different musical experiences, she sings a wide
variety of music with keyboard accompaniment. Her repertoire
contains tunes from the 1940’s to the present day in the styles of
smooth jazz, light rock, adult contemporary and Broadway………..music
that’s easy on the ears and vocals that warm the soul.
