First Time Here?

Welcome to AzOpenmic. If you are in the Phoenix area you are lucky to be in one of the better open mic (or open mike) scenes in the country. In the metro Phoenix area there are probably close to 100 at any given time. On this site, I list all of the open mic venues that I know of using a variety of sources. I do my best to keep this list updated but because venues that have open mic occasionally change their schedules, ownership or just give up, you should call to make sure they are still having open mic to be on the safe side. As my comrade at NJ Open Mic says "call before you haul".

Most Open Mic's run basically the same. There is usually a weekly host and a list on which you sign your name. When it is your turn to perform, the host introduces you, hooks you up to the sound system if needed and runs sound for you. Typically you get 3 songs or 15 minutes unless it is one of the busier venues (e.g. Joes Grotto or the Dubliner) in which case you get 2 songs. Always ask.

If you play at the same Open Mic several times you are quickly viewed as a "regular". You will find a very gracious and supportive audience at Open Mic's especially among your fellow performers.

For me, open mic has been a major inspiration. You hear music heard nowhere else. Make use of this site and find the good times to be had at Open Mic's in the Phoenix area.
