About Jim
Jim
Barnhart is
the youngest of 3 children born to George and Dorothy. He was born in
Pennsylvania, lived in Illinois, Idaho, Montana, Washington State,
California and now resides in Arizona. Jim grew up in a family that
encouraged music. He sang in choirs and played trombone in band.
Jim took up the guitar at the age of 19 and taught himself to play.
Jim lived as he describes it " a total loner" for about 7 years and
the guitar became his best friend. Jim still has his first guitar
although it is now his back-up instrument.
Jim
got his start playing guitar in churches as an adult and eventually
was leading a praise band in Tempe AZ. He was a choir director at the
same time in the same church but only for about 2 years. He says
"There was too much on the plate and somewhat lost my direction in
life. Alright, TOTALLY lost my direction in life. This led to some
life changing events and I left the church scene and quite a few
wounded people behind."
Jim
still feels the pain that
was caused by these events but people, like nature, must evolve. He
now plays coffee house venues as a solo act. "Having worked for
one company for 24 years, I had been too busy playing the corporate
game to move much further. Now life provides a little more time to
play and I hope to continue playing until life leaves my body."

Art is a reflection of life. In it's extreme,
life can become a reflection of art. Which is better? My music has
life as the main image with the art as a reflection. All emotions are
shown from love, lust,
beauty, anger and the list continues. Open your
self to music of the soul. Open you heart to love
and learn to live again. Not by restraint and rules but by the love
that comes from with-in.
